The Minister for Health and Ageing, David Davis, visited The Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus on 24 April to officially open the Palliative and Supportive Care Unit on 7 West. He briefly toured the refurbished ward, met staff and spoke to two patients, to hear their view of the service and their experience in hospital.

Melbourne researchers tackling drug resistant influenza

Two of Australia’s top medical researchers have received funding to investigate better treatments for patients with drug resistant influenza viruses. Dr Aeron Hurt and Dr Ian Barr of the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL), part of Melbourne Health, are one of five research teams in a joint funding arrangement between Australia and Singapore.

Australia Day honours for two RMH leading clinicians

Two of The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s internationally renowned clinicians have been recognised with an Order of Australia in the 2013 Australia Day Honours list. Professor Stephen Davis and Associate Professor Jitendra Vohra were recognised with an AM in the General Division of the Order of Australia for their significant contribution to medicine.
