Melbourne Health Pathology Service no longer performs semen analysis

Melbourne Health Shared Pathology Service (MHSPS) no longer performs Post Vasectomy Semen Analysis.

Semen analysis is performed by the Andrology Unit of the Royal Children’s Hospital. The Andrology Unit is located at 321 Cardigan St, Carlton (This is the OLD SITE of the Royal Women’s Hospital).

There are collection rooms onsite and the Andrology department would prefer that the patients are sent to them directly to collect the specimen. Alternatively, the specimen can arrive at the Andrology Unit within 4 hours of collection. Opening hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday - Friday.

A map of the location and more information can be found on their website:

http://www.rch.org.au/andrology/

If it is not possible for the patient to present himself to the Andrology Unit, then the specimen can be handed to MHSPS collection centres. It is essential that the specimen be dropped between 9 and midday, Monday to Friday, to allow sufficient time to arrange transport to the Andrology Unit.
