Melbourne Health Annual Report and Quality of Care Report now online
1 January 2008
The Melbourne Health Annual Report for 2006/07, and its sister publication, the Melbourne Health Quality of Care Report, are now available online.
The Annual Report showcases our achievements in patient care, research and education, and also our significant work in planning for the changing health care needs of the community.
Many areas across the organisation have experienced an increase in demand for services during the year, prompting Melbourne Health to introduce a new approach to managing patient access and flow. In addition, we have embarked on a culture change program, commencing with creation of a set of staff-developed values.
The year also saw significant capital works completed, including the construction of the World Health Organization’s Influenza Research and Referencing Laboratory at VIDRL (one of only four of its kind in the world), and preparatory works for the redevelopment of The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Emergency Department.
The Quality of Care Report is our report to the community on the quality of our services, and initiatives we have undertaken to continually improve our services. This year, we have used the recently developed Melbourne Health Values - Respect, Caring, Integrity, Unity and Discovery - as the theme to report on our endeavours.
Both publications highlight many personal stories of patients, staff and supporters, from Paul de Waard, survivor of the CBD shooting in June 2007, to the Myer family, longtime supporters of the Royal Melbourne Hospital; from Capital Works manager Leanne Chappell who is overseeing massive construction projects, to an organ recipient's journey to recovery.
The reports can be downloaded from the Publications page on this Internet site, or click on the links below.
