Grovedale scaffolder wins $2.3 million home in RMH Home Lottery
Stewart Pyers of Grovedale was speechless when phoned this morning with the news that he had won The Royal Melbourne Hospital Home Lottery main prize of a $2.3 million Ron Englehart Home in Kew.
The top prize in the lottery was drawn at Channel 9 this morning.
Mr Pyers, who is a scaffolder, said his wife, Carol, a nurse in Geelong, did not even know he had purchased a ticket in the lottery, and she would be extra surprised by the news.
Mr Pyers said the RMH Home Lottery was a wonderful initiative to support the hospital and this is what encouraged him to purchase the ticket.
The official presentation was held at 1pm today, when the Pyers will saw their brand new, fully furnished, luxurious home for the first time.
More than 90 per cent of tickets were sold in the RMH Home Lottery. Thanks to the generous support of Victorians. over $1.3 million has been raised to enhance health care equipment and services at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The remaining 4,022 prize draws will be completed early next week. A complete list of winners will be published in the Herald-Sun on 7 December, and the following day on www.rmhhomelottery.com.au.
