A $2.3 million luxury home in Kew is the major prize in the 2007 Royal Melbourne Hospital Home Lottery, the hospital’s biggest fundraiser.
The 35-square home at 34 Maitland Avenue, designed and constructed by Ron Englehart Homes, is fully furnished, professionally decorated and landscaped.
The property is on three levels, has expansive living and entertaining areas, and four bedrooms, including a master bedroom suite that spans the entire first floor.
The Early Bird Prize (for tickets sold by 1 November) is a “Porsche & Paradise” package of a 2008 Porsche Cayman and a 10-day Polynesia and Cook Islands Cruise, worth more than $145,000. The Early Bird Prize will be drawn on 12 November.
More than $3.67 million worth of prizes will be given away, including eight motor and marine vehicles, 20 holidays, 900 sport and leisure prizes and 3095 entertainment prizes.
Proceeds will support advances in health care at RMH – the purchase of medical equipment, and funding for medical research that will help RMH provide worldbest care for the Victorian community.
The inaugural RMH Home Lottery, held in 2005, raised $1.4 million for the hospital, making it one of the single most successful fundraising activities in the history of the hospital. These funds were used to establish an Adult Clinical Genetics Service at RMH.
Professor Ingrid Winship, who heads the service and is also Director of Research at Melbourne Health, said: “My sincere thanks to all who supported the first RMH Home Lottery. With funds raised in the Lottery, we have now set-up the first Genetics Service in Australia dedicated to the needs of adults.”
Professor Graham Brown, head of The University of Melbourne Department of Medicine at RMH, said: “Every day we face new challenges in caring for patients, and the Home Lottery is an important source of funds – for medical equipment, and for research to improve the health of our patients. Please give it your support.”
Ticket sales for this year’s lottery close on 22 November. The draw for the top valued Grand Prizes will be held on 30 November at Channel 9 studios. All other prizes will be drawn at the offices of Deloitte on Monday 3 December. Deloitte is supervising the RMH Home Lottery and prize draw.
Ticketholders have a one-in-20 chance of winning a prize. After each draw, the winner is recorded and the ticket number goes back for the next draw, so ticketholders can also win more than one prize.
Board Members and Executive of Melbourne Health and The Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation; and partners and employees of SO Asher Consultants Pty Ltd and Deloitte, and their relatives, are not eligible to enter.
The complete list of winning ticket numbers will be published in the Herald Sun on 7 December 2007 and will also be available online at www.rmhHomeLottery.com.au.
