Salary Packaging Salary packaging is an Australian Taxation Office approved means of restructuring your income to reduce your taxable income. All employees are eligible for the scheme.
Staff Gym EFM (Executive Fitness Management) provides a service in between a commercial gym and a personal trainer. You exercise in small groups and every session is different. There are no mirrors, no lycra, no waiting for machines. The programs are personalised to assist every member achieve their health and fitness goals.
Reward and Recognition Programs The annual Best of Health awards is just one recognition program used by Melbourne Health to support and promote the endeavours of individuals and teams in improving workplace practices and enhancing outcomes for patients.
Health and Wellbeing Employees have access to massage, staff gym and the Staff Health Service. Also, vaccinations are available to staff who would like them. Throughout the year, Melbourne Health also runs Health and Wellbeing seminars and exhibitions.
Staff Health Service The Staff Health Service provides health and medical advice to staff, including management of primary medical conditions, routine vaccination programs, counselling, women's health issues, overseas travel advice and health education programs. The Service is staffed by general practitioners and as such operates within the relationship of doctor-patient confidentiality.
HealthArts Promotes the healing value of the arts, enriches the hospital environment and actively engages patients, families, visitors, staff and volunteers.
Staff Parking Melbourne Health offers discounted parking for staff who drive to work.
Peer Support Program – Internal Support The Peer Support Program provides support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via confidential one-to-one contact. Peers are Melbourne Health employees who understand the work environment and have undertaken extensive training to enable to them to provide peer support. The Peer Support Program can also provide defusing and debriefing services.
Employee Assistance Program – External Support OSA Group is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They provide professionally trained counsellors who offer short-term confidential counselling to assist Melbourne Health employees in resolving personal or professional matters. Employees may speak to an on-call counsellor over the phone after hours or ring to make an appointment to see a counsellor face-to-face within business hours.
Social Club The Social Club brings staff together in a non-work environment through a variety of activities outside working hours. The club is a great vehicle in assisting people who have moved to Melbourne to feel welcomed and comfortable in their new environment.
No Lift Melbourne Health has implemented a safer and more comfortable system of work practices for staff to use when handling, transferring and mobilising patients. Known as Back Attack - No Lifting program, it aims to significantly reduce the risk of musculo-skeletal injuries attributed to the manual handling of people. The program provides staff with practical training in contemporary patient manual handling approaches and techniques. |
