The Royal Melbourne Hospital, as well as NorthWestern Mental Health and Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory, are located in the heart of Victoria's pharmaceutical and biotechnology hub, known as the Parkville Precinct. The Victorian State Government has a vision for Melbourne to become one of the five leading biotechnology hubs in the world by 2010, and continued investment in the Parkville Precinct is a cornerstone of that strategy.
