Referrals
A GP referral is required for patients to attend any of the outpatient clinics. The Medicare clinics require a "named" specialist referral. Referrals can be for 12 months or indefinite - please consider making referrals for chronic conditions indefinite.
Referrals can be faxed to the outpatient clinics.
Victorian Statewide Referral Form (VSRF)
The Victorian Statewide Referral Form (VSRF) is the preferred referral form for RMH outpatient clinics. The 2009 version is available for download in Word and Medical Director 3 versions. If you require download for other software - please refer to the GPV website. Extended versions of the VSRF are now available for urology and Hip and knee clinics, please utilise these versions if referring to urology or orthopaedic hip or knee clinics.

Alternatives to outpatient clinic referrals
Referrals to private specialists are another alternative to attendance at outpatient clinics - there may be out-of-pocket costs involved.
A comprehensive listing of private medical specialists is available through the Australian Health Directory online.
