4 South Neurosurgery
The Neurosurgical ward is a 24 bed ward comprising of 14 general ward beds and a 10 bed High Dependency Unit. The ward caters for both elective and emergency patients with brain tumours, cerebrovascular disease, spinal disorders, neuro trauma, neuro endocrinology and peripheral nerve disorders which require neurosurgical assessment and treatment.
The ward has a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, allied health staff, clinical nurse consultants, nurse educators and clerical staff who work in a collaborative and consultative approach to deliver the highest clinical care to our patients.

4 South Neurology
4 South Neurology is a 21-bed General Neurology, Epilepsy, Video Telemetry Monitored Epilepsy and Stroke Unit. The Neurology unit has a state of the art 4 bed speciallised Video Telemetry Unit, this is used to Video and EEG monitor Epilepsy patients. This unit operates from Monday to Friday. The Stroke Care Unit has 6 monitored beds to allow close vital signs monitoring of acute stroke patients as they are admitted to the unit. Patients with general neurological disorders are also managed on this ward.
Neurology has two dedicated ward based educators, a Clinical Nurse Educator and a Clinical Support Nurse. Together they provide clinical education and support for the ward including:
- Postgraduate Certificate Program
- Learning packages that cover conditions for Epilepsy, Neurological disorders and Strokes
- Short Course Programs
- In-service Education
