 Basic Physician Training Positions

All Basic Physician Training in Victoria is provided through a consortia comprised of metropolitian and rural hospitals.  The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Greater Western Basic Physician Training Consortium, which includes rotations across Melbourne Health, Western Health, Ballarat Health Services, North East Health Wangaratta and Wodonga Regional Health Service.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is committed to maintaining high success rates in both FRACP exams. Successful applicants that are matched to the The Royal Melbourne Hospital will be guaranteed rotations at RMH immediately prior to exams.

Am I eligible to apply for a BPT position?
All BPT positions are coordinated through the PMCV and Consortias.  Please see the following websites to check your eligibility:

How are interviews arranged?
At this stage interviews will be arranged directly through each Hospital and shortlists for interviews
will be made after the closing date. Each candidate should only be interviewed once per consortia.

How are rotations and leave selected?
Successful applicants are given a rotation preference form and leave preference form to assist us allocating rotations and leave.  An opportunity is given on this form to state reasons/support for particular rotations and or leave.
