Health Information Services (formerly known as Medical Records) provides a variety of services to RMH, managing information for and about patient care. Record Management
- Storing and maintaining patient records
- Retrieving and preparing records for outpatient clinics, admissions and emergency attendances
- Retrieving records for special requests and research
- Destroying records according to the Public Record Office of Victoria's Disposal Schedule
Transcription
- Typing of outpatient correspondence
Medicolegal/ FOI
- Providing patients with copies of their records under the FOI Act
- Providing medicolegal reports to patients, solicitors and other organisations
- Providing subpoenaed records to court
- Forwarding patient information to GPs, Specialists and other hospitals on request subject to provisions of privacy and health legislation
Clinical Coding and Data
- Coding of all inpatient records using ICD-10-AM
- Data maintenance and report for emergency, inpatients, outpatients and elective surgery information as required by the Department of Human Services
- Notification of cancers to the Victorian Cancer Registry
- Preparation of DRG information for unit meetings
