The Department of Colorectal Medicine and Genetics is focused on clinical care and research:  

  • Screening and early detection of bowel cancer
  • Familial bowel cancer
  • Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)
  • Hereditary non polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC)
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Crohn's disease
  • Coeliac disease
  • Irritable bowel syndrome

There is close integration with other Royal Melbourne Hospital departments/services:

  • Gastroenterology
  • Colorectal Surgery
  • Familial Cancer Centre
  • Bowel Cancer Surveillance Service
