Welcome to the Department of Urology at Royal Melbourne Hospital, one of Australia’s leading Urology Centres. We provide a comprehensive urological service from the City Campus of Royal Melbourne Hospital on Grattan Street, and also provide urological expertise to the neighbouring Royal Women’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Our team includes thirteen Consultant Urologists, three Fellows, one Registrar, two residents, one intern and a specialist urology nursing team. Our research staff includes three clinical trial nurses, one research fellow and a laboratory team working between the University of Melbourne and the Australian Prostate Cancer Research.
We provide specialised clinical services for all adult urological conditions including:
- Urological cancers
- Stone disease
- Continence problems
We have general urology out-patient clinics at Royal Melbourne Hospital and also provide the following specialist multidisciplinary clinics and out-patient diagnostic services:
- Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms’
- Haematuria (blood in the urine)
- Flexible cystoscopy
- Prostate Biopsy
The Department is actively involved with both clinical and basic scientific research. It provides excellent training opportunities for urologists and specialist nurses and has a world-renowned Fellowship Program for advanced trainees under the Directorship of Professor Anthony J Costello and Mr Declan G Murphy.
How to refer:
Please refer to the attached VSRF to view investigations recommended BEFORE REFERRAL. Once the relevant tests have been completed please fax your referral to RMH Outpatient Department on 03 9342 4324 so an appointment can be arranged.
Please note that all referrals must include:
· Level of urgency
· Name, age, date of birth
· Contact telephone numbers
· Medicare number
· Specific clinical problems requiring consultation
· Preferred Language (Please indicate if interpreter is needed)
· Copy of results of relevant investigations performed within the previous 12 months
· List of current medications
