The Royal Melbourne Kidney Care Service (RMH Kidney Care) in Victoria provides care to approximately 6 per cent of the Australian Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) population, making it one of the largest national providers of renal replacement therapies.

RMH Kidney Care operates as a hub and spoke model, offers an integrated CKD service and provides care for CKD patients from the time that they are registered with the service until transplantation, relocation or end of life. The scope of services offered by RMH Kidney Care is designed to support a continuum of care for people with CKD. Treatment options that are explained and discussed with people include home haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, satellite dialysis, transplantation and supportive care. |

Consistent with a community based care philosophy and focus on quality of life, home therapies are encouraged, satellite centres are strategically placed to offer dialysis to patients close to their homes and in-centre dialysis is only provided for those that require increased medical supervision or hospital based interventions, generally for a limited time. RMH Kidney Care embraces clinical excellence and innovation in the care and management of people with kidney failure and engages translational research, a quality and safety framework and consumer participation to support our primary goals. |

The RMH Dialysis Support Group holds events to support dialysis patients and the work of RMH Kidney Care Service.
|
Anita Narduzzo, the President of this group, is a past transplant patient. Following her successful transplant she established this group, committing the hours she previously spent on dialysis each week, to help other dialysis patients.
Established in 2000, the group runs a number of events each year, such as a dinner dance, film nights and other fundraising activities.
