  Orthopaedic Surgery

The Orthopaedic Surgery service is the largest public hospital orthopaedic department in Victoria, Australia.  It is a tertiary referral centre catering for general, specialty and complex areas within Orthopaedic Surgery.

The Department works closely with Rheumatology to provide a complete musculoskeletal service. The inpatient services are divided between emergency and elective surgery patients. More than 2500 surgical procedures are performed each year.

Orthopaedic Clinics and Fracture Clinics are held every weekday.

As well as catering for a large clinical workload, both basic science and clinical research is carried out, resulting in numerous presentations and publications on an annual basis.
