“Congratulations to the wonderful Dry July Participants in Victoria. With their support, they have helped to raise over $200,000 for The Royal Melbourne Hospital – what an incredible achievement!”
For the third year running, The Royal Melbourne Hospital was selected to be the sole Victorian beneficiary of the National Dry July campaign where participants commit to giving up alcohol for the month of July and raise money from sponsorships of their brave “dry” efforts.
Melissa Bergland, from the TV series Winners and Losers and Kane Lillywhite, My Kitchen Rules finalist launched the 2011 campaign in our 5 West Day Oncology centre. The pair brought smiles to our cancer patients when they took the time to meet with them and share their reasons for being involved in and supporting the campaign.
Our inspiring cancer patient Timothy Sim performed a special song that he wrote for his fiancee, the beautiful and authentic lyrics brought tears to the eyes of all in the room.
This year’s campaign has been a great success and we would like to thank the incredible 1550 Victorian participants who have helped to raise over $200,000 for our Oncology Department. The money raised will have a direct impact on achieving excellence in the quality of care we offer and will help to brighten the journey of the thousands of cancer patients, their families and friends that we look after each year.
On behalf of our thousands of cancer patients, their families and friends, thank you to all involved in Dry July this year.
