Melbourne Health: Royal Melbourne Centre for Clinical Pastoral Education  
 
Training and supervision in the ministry of pastoral care, applicable to a variety of ministry contexts, is offered through the Melbourne Health: Royal Melbourne Centre for Clinical Pastoral Education.

Clinical Pastoral Education is a recognised tertiary level subject within the Melbourne College of Divinity. It seeks to develop a person's Pastoral, Professional and Personal identity and skills through an experiential educational process. The Centre and its supervisors are accredited with the Association for Supervised Pastoral Education in Australia Inc (ASPEA Inc).

One unit consists of 400 hours with a minimum of:

  • 10 hours of individual supervision
  • 60 hours of group supervision
  • 150 hours of actual practice of pastoral ministry
  • 60 hours of personal written reflection on ministry and course requirements.

Education is offered to those seeking training at basic, advanced and supervisory levels. The course can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis.

  • Two 18-week, part-time, units are offered annually from February to June and July to November.
  • A full-time, 11-week, program is offered annually from mid-November until the end of January.
  • Cost of education is $850.00 / unit.
