NorthWestern Mental Health is involved in contemporary mental health research which has gained national and international recognition.
The main research interests include: psychopharmacology; cognitive neuropsychiatry; old age psychiatry; youth mental health; service evaluation; and psychosocial research.
Close partnerships, primarily with The University of Melbourne Department of Psychiatry, the Mental Health Research Institute and La Trobe University aim to enhance clincial services by incorporating the latest evidence based interventions for major psychiatric disorders.
Mental health services are enhanced by the work conducted at research centres based at Sunshine Hospital and The Northern Hospital. The establishment of the Psychosocial Research Centre in Coburg is also improving outcomes for adults recovering from mental illness. |
