There are two psychology academic advisors that are joint positions between LaTrobe University and NWMH (Northern Area) and between the University of Melbourne and NWMH.
The advisors provide active support to clinicians within the service who want to engage in further research, either within their current role or via expanding their role and qualifications.
Clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology training is grounded in the scientist practitioner model and both of these fields have specific training in evaluation and research methodology. Many psychologists have roles within their organisations that effectively make use of this skill base. This may include literature review and analysis, promotion of evidence based practice, outcome measurement and evaluation, quality analysis and clinical research. Psychologists have the opportunity to be involved in varying levels of research. For more information about recent research projects undertaken within NWMH click here to download a document.
