Cultural Portfolio Holder  
 
The role of the Cultural Portfolio Holder is to:

  • Promote culturally sensitive practice in all programs of the mental health service;
  • Convene the AMHS Cultural Working Group; identify issues and gaps in culturally sensitive practice across the service, set priorities, desired outcomes and implement strategies, in consultation with the Area Manager;
  • Support the Bilingual Case Managers in the development of culturally responsive service activities;
  • Co-ordinate the provision of cross-cultural resources for staff and translated information for clients;
  • Promote and undertake community liaison with ethnospecific agencies and other agencies that provide services to CALD groups;
  • Contribute to community education programs for CALD communities on mental illness and mental health services;
  • Co-ordinate cross-cultural training programs for staff;
  • Report on culturally sensitive practice issues and activities to AMHS executive meetings;
  • Liaise with the Ethnic Mental Health Consultant and other Cultural Portfolio Holders, and attend meetings of the cross-regional Transcultural Advisory
    Group (TAG).
