Introduction
The Breast Service (joint service of the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women's Hospitals) in conjunction with Cancer Australia (incorporating the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre - NBOCC) recently completed a successful Breast Cancer GP shared care project for patients with early Breast Cancer. Due to the project's success in offering a practical shared care program for GPs, the Breast Service intends to continue to provide the GP shared care model for patients who have completed treatment for early breast cancer.
The shared care model has been developed by Cancer Australia (incorporating National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre). For GPs who participate in the Breast Cancer shared care model, GPs can obtain advice from the Breast service at any time and patients can be referred back to the Breast Service for urgent review utilising the Rapid Access request form (available under project documents).
